I think like Bib & Jens mention - it's probably the DE Stop setting. Here's a tip I learned - There is a checkbox up by the image size section at the top that says 'DE Stop + C' - Keep that checked off. When you change the image size there (At the top in the same section), the DE Stop setting should automatically adjust based on the new size to keep the render consistent. That only works there - If you use the 'preview', 'mid', 'high' buttons, the image size will change, but the DE stop is set based on the render settings of the preset instead. My 'preview' DE stop sets at 1, and the size is 480 x 360. If I change the image size at the top to 4000 x 3000, the DE Stop automatically adjusts to 8.33333. I think once you fool around with this, you'll probably see what I mean. I think this also keeps the colors consistent too when you render larger. Hope this all makes sense!
